使命を果たすまでは帰ってきてはならないと家を出された主人公。これまでの3巻とは違い，少年のDaystar目線で物語が進むので実に児童書らしい感じ。シモレーヌから徹底的に「礼儀正しくあれ」と教え込まれているDaystarは，とにかく丁重な物腰で，常にかっかしている火の魔法使いShiara と好対照。ボケとつっこみが面白い。さて，中々目的地へたどり着けないDaystar一行は，いろいろな森の生き物たちに出会う。
読み始めると，もう物語の筋は想像がつくのだが，それでも楽しく読んだ。Shiaraが彫像にされちゃった部分でDaystarがどうやっても魔法が解けないので，思い余ってとった行動が面白かった。その後にShiaraに問い詰められてしどろもどろになっているところなんか，可愛らしい。乙女モノファンには美味しい場面でした。
最後におお！という展開もあり，満足いたしました。
